Pharmacy Traditions and Hands-on Experiences at the Night of Museums

30 June 2026

This year's Night of Museums event took place on Saturday, 20 June, and faculty members and students of our Faculty once again joined the programme as volunteers.

Representing the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy, Dr Klára Mayer, Honorary Associate Professor, conducted guided tours at the Szerecsen Pharmacy Museum. During the approximately 50-minute tours, which started every hour, visitors gained insight into the lives and work of renowned pharmacists from Baranya County and became acquainted with historical pharmaceutical preparations, packaging materials, and the various tools and equipment once used in pharmacy practice.

As part of the programme, participants also had the opportunity to try themselves in the role of a pharmacist. Under the guidance of Dr Ádám Horváth, Assistant Professor, and third-year pharmacy students Boglárka Dániel, Nóra Helga Rapcsák, and Eszter Stráz-Lukács, visitors prepared lemon essential oil hand cream and lip balm. In addition, participants could test their knowledge by identifying medicinal plant drugs and learn more about various aspects of pharmaceutical science and practice.

The success of the event was reflected in the high level of participation: during the three-hour programme, nearly 80 visitors took part in the interactive activities, while the guided tours attracted several times that number. The youngest participant was 7 years old, while the oldest visitor was 68 years old.
